145 WEST STREET  | THE GREENPOINT + GREENPOINT PUBLIC PARK

Location Pin

ABB’s design for public open space at The Greenpoint preserves and frames views of the waterfront and surrounding green space to provide a memorable park experience for visitors. This new open space includes 29,500 SF of the publicly-accessible park with 275 LF of esplanade connecting future sites to the north and south of the parcel creating a continuous esplanade along the waterfront. The northern section of the park includes play areas for ages 2-5 and 5-12, an interactive water spray feature, and climbing elements. Large, open lawns with shade trees for passive recreation, soft undulating planting areas, and planted landforms function as buffers between public and private spaces. Additional site amenities and furnishings include seating areas, drinking fountains, bicycle racks, and security lighting.

In conjunction with their waterfront park project, ABB designed two intensive green roofs and two courtyards. The roofs, on the 5th floor level of both North and South Towers, are characterized by undulating landforms and plantings. An 11,000 SF interior courtyard on the 3rd floor integrates a hammock grove, turf lounging, outdoor kitchen, and seating areas. From the 4th floor sundeck residents enjoy clear views of Manhattan over the East River, from an outdoor space equipped with kitchen, showers, and lounging space.
