BROOKLYN TECH H.S. ATHLETIC FIELD/ PUBLIC RESTROOM BUILDING

Brooklyn Technical High School, commonly referred to as Brooklyn Tech, is a New York City public high school located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The school has over 40 athletic teams and is a leader in science, technology, engineering and mathematics-based education. The multi-sport synthetic turf field originally opened in 2001, as part of the Take the Field Program. It was an abandoned lot converted into a much-needed athletic field for Brooklyn Tech to call their own. The track, field, and amenities were in desperate need of replacement to meet the high athletic standards of this prestigious institution. Abel Bainnson Butz, LLP provided complete design and construction administration services for this reconstruction project.

The 66,000 SF infill synthetic turf playing field is used for football, lacrosse, and soccer.  Field markings include a 60-foot inlaid mid-field logo and “TECH” stretched across the end zones. The drainage strategies were implemented on site by supplementing an existing drainage panel and detention system. In addition to a new concession/comfort station amenities include a 100-meter resilient sprint track, sideline bleacher seating with ADA-compliant areas for 400 spectators with a filming platform, and an entry plaza with decorative fencing and a ticket/security booth.  The site furnishings also include a score board, PA system, and drinking fountains.
