GRACE PLAZA | 1114 AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS

Grace Plaza’s modernist design implements simple forms and elegant materials to complement the unique curved façade of the original building designed by Gordon Bunshaft (1974). This minimalistic public space uses a restrained mix of materials, black Jet Mist granite and stainless steel, offset by a selective planting palette of flowering pear trees, American holly, and pachysandra. A glass box café arranges custom benches, tables, and chairs among and shaded by the large flowering trees. ABB provided the grading, irrigation, planting, and distinctive sidewalk design.
