ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY JACK KAISER STADIUM
ABB began the design of this project following our completion of the Campus Athletic Facilities Assessment Report, which helped St. John’s University prioritize capital improvements. Jack Kaiser Stadium, formerly known as “The Ballpark at St. John’s” is widely regarded as one of the top baseball facilities in the Big East Conference and Northeast Region.
ABB provided design, bid documentation, and construction administration services for this reconstruction project. Due to poor drainage and an uneven playing surface caused by both invasive grass species and the high wear on the natural turf field, the natural turf field was converted to synthetic turf. The new synthetic turf field includes an underdrainage system on a porous aggregate base with collector pipes and drainage panels to account for all stormwater during heavy rain events. Additional amenities include enhanced storage areas, renovated batting cages and dugouts, improved water supply, upgraded communications, and new perimeter fencing/padding.
